Masha and the Bear WebAR Lenses

The "Masha and the Bear" WebAR experience is a web-based augmented reality project that lets users create amazing content using real-time face filters based on beloved cartoon characters. Each filter responds to user movements like turning the head, opening the mouth, nodding, smiling, or shaking the head. These animated interactive filters allow users to record videos and take selfies as their favorite characters. The built-in sharing function lets users share their content on social media without leaving the browser.

Challenge & approach
The goal of this project was to create a user-generated content tool that allows users to embody their favorite cartoon characters. Immercity proposed a trendy face filter tool in augmented reality as a WebAR project.
This approach enabled users to access the tool without downloading any apps, simply by using their smartphone's built-in browser. This seamless access made it easy for users to enjoy and share the experience instantly, increasing engagement and reach.

The project was developed using 8thWall’s WebAR engine and face tracking technology. It was completed in 4 weeks, enabling a timely launch before a holiday campaign rollout. During the active advertising campaign,
the experience reached over 120,000 users in just 3 weeks, setting a record for user engagement. This quick turnaround and extensive reach demonstrated the project's success in capturing the attention and imagination of the target audience.
